Sussex Family Mediation Service

Mediation for children, property and finance Family Focus – Solutions focused counselling

The Service has been offering value for money mediation to couples and families since 1984. The mediation service was initially set up with the help of Chichester Diocesan Association for Family Support Work and later became an independent charity, the Sussex Family Mediation Service (Charity Number 105303).

The Service has been awarded the Quality Mark from the Legal Services Commission and is contracted to provide mediation through the Public Funding (previously know as the Legal Aid) Scheme. Our mediators are registered with the UK College of Family Mediators.

Jean Craggs (Brighton)                        Ian Butlin (Brighton)
       Sue Booth (Brighton)

Our mediators are highly experienced, and come from either a social work or legal background. They have been working from within our Brighton office with couples and families experiencing separation, helping them to make arrangements for children, property and financial matters for many years.

The Service was also selected by the Legal Services Commission to pilot Family Advice and Information Services (FAINS) to offer additional support regarding personal issues to clients during the first assessment meetings (FAINS) in 2005 with the aim of increasing the successful outcome of cases long-term.

It has been innovative ever since it's conception, leading the way with family mediation, All Issues Mediation (including children, property and finance), and a solutions focused counselling service called Family Focus.
